  • Reliable and Utilitarian - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

This is the second Sport Trac I have owned. The first proved to be so very useful that my wife and I had to buy another. I like all of the features and it rides very nicely. I dont need a "real truck" and we need a vehicle with a back seat.

The truck is a great family vehicle. Comfortable for the commute and great for light home owner hauling. 4WD works well and pulls great. The only complaints are the poor location for the seat warmers and the squeaky drivers seat. The seat warmer needs to be moved to the dash area where you will not bump it while getting in. The drivers seat squeaks and was told by Ford, "Dont know why." Other than that it is a great car. I can not complain about the fuel, because I know it is a truck. Looking forward to the 8 cylinder.

I recently purchased a new Sport Trac. This vehicle met the needs I wanted. I didnt need or want a full size pickup. But I wanted a bed to haul items that wouldnt fit inside a normal SUV. I wanted light duty towing capability and with 5300 lbs it easily meets that need. I have found that is has a quiet and smooth ride on the road. The seats are very comfortable. The interior is user friendly and the console easy to see. It isnt loaded with a lot of fancy electronic gadgets unless you want to add them on, which I didnt want. I have found it has smooth acceleration. It doesnt snap your head back but I wasnt looking for a sports car. Really good low end power and the brakes stop on a dime.

  • Luv my "Little Ugly Truck" - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Ive wanted one of these since they first came out in 2001. Ive always said "they are so ugly that they are cute". I was finally able to purchase one in March of 2005. Mine has the bed extender, the split tonneau cover, the moon roof ... the works. It handles very well and I love the roominess. I also love the separate heating and cooling controls for the backseat passengers. I am not pleased with the gas mileage. The sticker promised 15-20 mpg. I usually get 13.2 miles per gallon. Quite a big difference from what was promised!

  • Happy with my Sport Trac - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

This has been a great truck. Fits our lifestyle nicely, can still put a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back, seat 5 adults comfortably, tow a utility trailer and still drive the thing around downtown and not have difficulty finding a parking spot. Biggest disappointment is the gas mileage. I cant understand how a 6 cylinder not being driven hard gets such poor mileage. Build quality is great and I havent had a single problem with it.

First Sport trac was a 2001 XLT (Company car). Loved it. Traded in at 80,000 for only one on the lot.. Adrenalin. Special Red. A beauty Have never seen another. That is #1. Will be made to trade in soon and I will to buy the trade. Gas mileage is frustrating..can only average 16.

  • 2004 ford explorer sport trac 4X4 - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I have driven both explorer and sport trac and love both. T do not find any truck like ride with the sport trac. I found it to be great for soccer moms. Plenty of room inside. Rubber floors easy to clean and wont get ruined from mud and cleated shoes. The bed has just enough room for groceries or duffly bags and book packs. And a Kid"s bike fits great> They must of changed the undercarrage because I drove 2002 4X4 Ranger and this doesn"t drive like it did. I loved the Ranger but needed more room. I think someone needs to ride in the newer make.

  • GREAT FOR A WOMAN THAT WANTS A TRUCK - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

  • Much room for improvement - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
    By -

I like the truck a lot. Nice styling, good features like the bed extender and bed cover. Lot of room in the back seat. Good off road capabilities, both in 4H and 4L. Only problem are the side steps which are quite low and tend to touch the ground off road. My biggest problem is my dealership; the after sales service is as bad as can be. Build quality is fair and reliability not as good as a Japanese make.

  • Good to go - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
    By -

My Trac does everything I need it to. I do a lot of hunting and 4 wheeling and the Trac has enough tow power to tow my boat and atv trailers. The ride is not as smooth as I would like after being spoiled in a 04 F150. The interior is kind of boring compared to the 07 models and the 04 and newer F150s and 05 and newer Explorers.
